About as special as it gets in terms of a wine release from the project. Two final barrels of Pinot Gris remaining from Anne and Anders’ very first vintage in 2013, finally bottled in 2024. Bannwarth Family fruit that saw a direct press, quick overnight oxidation, and outdoor fermentation over the winter in fiber cuve. Transferred into barrels in 2014 where it was untouched, and not topped for just over 10 years. A decade of the project in one emotional wine. Each year they would check back in with the wine only to decide it needed more time to come together in the way they’d like it to. Very precise in its expression, nothing is out of place. Here we’re firmly into oxidative notes. Earthyness, the smell of a library full of books, dazzling golden fruit with a salty, herbal depth. Super concentrated fruit at the core of the wine, more intensity than other oxidative wines of the project.
