A UFO from 2020. 50/50 Ardèche and Alsace. Cabernet Sauvignon from Mazel, and Gewürztraminer from the Bannwarth Family in Alsace. Direct press of both grapes, blended together in Valvignères, with fermentation and élevage for 3 years in old barriques. Never topped up, so taking on an oxidative edge. A striking rosé. A hint of the floral character from the Gewürztraminer remains but it’s been fused to the Cabernet fruit through the oxidation process. Hyper-expressive and pointed. High toned florals and delicate fruit. Oxidized strawberry and white balsamic. The acid is equally pointed and has a brilliant piquancy. A delicately balanced oxidative wine from Anne and Anders that manages to use the process to find a new expression.
