Elanion 2018

Macabeu with Grenache Gris and Grenache Blanc (ratios varying depending on vintage). From a steep hillside vineyard in Planèzes. Roughly 68-year old vines on soils of blue and red marl with schist. Direct pressed, then fermented and aged in old 400-liter barriques for 12 months before bottling. An encapsulating and memorable white wine that has serious finesse. Explosive and golden-toned fruit in the glass, maturity and a slight gassy quality. Golden fruits, pears, apples, and herbs, with some anise-like characteristics. Long, long finish. Out of production since Saskia's last vintage in 2024. One of the best white wines we've ever encountered.
