Gewurztraminer from the Bildstoecklé Lieu-Dit, an isolated hilltop of fine limestone soils located just north of the commune of Obermorschwihr. A northern facing parcel with vines planted in 1964. One of the top references for Gewurztraminer, Bruno considers this site as unofficial Grand Cru. Released under the abbreviation “Bild” in years where they don’t apply for the full name under the Appellation. The grapes are pressed in whole bunches slowly and maximum extraction is achieved in the pneumatic press. 18 months on lees in large foudre. An expansive Gewurztraminer with elegant structure and heady complexities. Soil impressions of smoke and rocks. Minerally tense with ample acid. The fruit is broad and intoxicating with tropical notes, burnt orange, spice, and persimmon. Bready notes are also present in the background, with glossy and refined texture on the palate.
