Domaine Gérard Schueller et Fils - Bruno & Elena Schueller
Husseren-les-Châteaux, Alsace, France
The most emblematic wine of the domaine. Gewurztraminer Cuvée Particulière comes from a selection of parcels, two in the 2023 vintage: Stich with sandy limestone (Husseren), and Fuchsloch mostly clay topsoil with limestone (Husseren). Often with a portion of grapes from other vines, it’s Bruno’s Gewurztraminer of distinct character with a particular selection yearly. Red script on the label always denotes wines with residual sugars (according to Bruno’s standards). Direct, hard pressing of the grapes with 12 months aging on lees in large barrels. A lightning bolt in a bottle, with extreme aromatics, typical of Gewurztraminer. Lychees, white flowers, pineapple, and grapefruit. Salty and broad fruit in the mouth with a considerable cut of sugars, in balance with its vibrant acidity.
