Bodegas La Senda - Diego Losada
Bárcena del Bierzo, León, Spain
100 percent Garnacha Tintorera also known as Alicant Bouschet. This fruit comes from Diego’s highest elevation and wildest plot of vines, isolated in the southern mountains of the valley on the Galicia border. Here the old bush-trained vines are a minimum of 100 years in age. The soils again are mineral and ore rich with quartz, iron, slate, and gold in the deeper parts of the soils. In fact the vineyard is situated above an ancient mine where the romans excavated for these. Harvested in October after snowfall, the grapes see 3-4 days of maceration, followed by 10 months of ageing in chesnut barrel. Lifted dark fruit aromas, plummy with a touch of pickle brine. Savory mineral sweetness on the palate with Diego’s signature delicate touch.
