Paloma 2023

Just the second time around receiving this special cuvée from Jean-Louis. Named after his daughter it’s generally a 50/50 white red blend of southern varieties. This time equal parts Ugni Blanc and Carignan, both from vines in Addisan, in the Hérault department of the Languedoc, just off the Mediterranean coast. Vineyards with sandy-limestone deposits left within the ancient lakebeds of the region. Whole cluster maceration of both varieties in stainless tank and 6 months of élevage in sandstone amphora. A beautiful and unique expression. Dusty and earthy red fruit, with a heady amaro-like quality. Rusty light red in color, it resembles something like a Trousseau of the south.
