Mario’s labour of love. All native grapes from the first abandoned vineyard Mario began cultivating in 2013. Nearly centennial age vines co-planted with over 10 local varieties, Brunetta, Becuet, Neretta Cuneese, Chatus, Carcairun, and Barbera, plus other unidentified red and white grapes. The harvest is by hand, and takes two weeks and multiple passes to identify the ripeness of each variety. This timeframe is risky as it gives much more time for the local wildlife to have their fill. All grapes are destemmed and spend 5 weeks in contact with the skins. Fermentation in stainless and then racked into glass demijohns. The 2020 vintage was bottled earlier out of necessity, due to limited space and equipment.Therefore bottled with a touch of remaining sugar, giving a slight re-fermentation in bottle. Immediately captivating with tense and mineral dark fruit, framed with uplifting florals. Capturing the spirit and unique energy of his place. Concentrated fruit with bright acid lifted with a little bit of VA.
