Philippe & Catherine Jambon

Chasselas, Beaujolais, France

A special wine of the domaine and possibly the first time they’ve produced a wine like this in Solera. A summary of the estate with wines dating back to 2002. The base and majority portion comes from the Roche Noire parcel, a steep and isolated plot in Leynes rich in black manganese. Gamay from Roche Noire from 2014, introduced to a blend of solera wines ranging from 2002- 2013. Les Batailles, the oldest parcel of vines (80+ years) on a lower elevation portion of the Leynes vineyards, and Les Ganivets on the steep hillside above Leynes (vines 50+ years on granite). Also included was a portion of “Allez Les Verres 2013”, a special bottling of Les Balmont vineyard with Les Batailles representing the two oldest parcels in Leynes. Lastly, there's a bit of domaine Chardonnay in the mix but from when is hard to verify. Five additional years aging in old barrel after blending, this wine represents a total of fifteen years of the domaine. A wine that will again reward the patient. Deep in its expression showing complexity of age, while still being young at heart. Dusty cherry fruit, with a lighter bodied presentation than the more concentrated single vineyard wines. Like Pinot or Poulsard, but the Jambon signature is here. Acid lift and bright red fruit, the VA is high but kept in check by the other elements. An impactful wine with a message. You’ll thank yourself when you revisit this wine in the future.
