Pinot Nero from the commune of Ottiglio Monferrato. From Vinicea, a trusted organic grower, who grows grapes for winemakers like Jean-Yves Péron, Cascina Tavijn, and Iuli. Pinot Noir on sandy soils. The harvest here is manual at the beginning of September. Grapes see 2 months on the skins. Fermented in stainless steel, and racked into glass demijohns. Bottled after 8 months. Equally tannic, if not even larger in structure than the 2020. Big mouth filling tannins, and heady earthy fruit. The sandy soils are far more apparent in this vintage with tons of smokey complexity. Rich and generous fruit on the palate, there's maybe even a touch of RS and trapped CO2, adding to its vibrancy and movement.
